2020: DISC PhD Award: My PhD student Stefan Heijmans won the prestigious 2020 Best DISC PhD Award for his thesis "Exploring the uncharted territories of networked control systems: by scavenging for structure in dynamics and communication." The PhD Thesis Award was established in 2009. It is an annual award for the best defended thesis of a DISC PhD student.

2019: IEEE Control Systems Letters Outstanding Paper Award. It is a single annual award given based on originality, potential impact on the theoretical foundations of control, importance and practical significance in applications, and clarity. The winning paper is entitled "Consistent Threshold-Based Policy for Event-Triggered Control" written by Behnam Asadi Khashooei, Duarte Antunes, and Maurice Heemels.
